Veteran spinner Brad Hogg has re-signed a 1-year deal with the Melbourne Renegades. The 46-year old spinner will play for the Renegades for the second time in his career. Hogg has been one of the most vital member with the Perth Scorchers side. The 2003 and 2007 World Cup winner had gone through a knee surgery earlier this year, and he was looking forward to extend his career.

Hogg is currently in India, working as a cricket expert with host broadcaster, apart from that he has also passed on his wise words to the struggling Australian side. The visitors have lost the ODI sries 1-4 and started the T20I series with a defeat.

“Look out Melbourne, I’m coming back,” he said on Monday (October 9). “I had such a good time during the last BBL season and the fire to compete is burning strongly. I can’t wait to get back into the sporting cauldron in Melbourne again with Finchy (Aaron Finch) and the rest of the guys.

“A little bit of maintenance is required these days to keep the machine running perfectly but I’m feeling good and looking forward to getting back into it,” he added.

Delivering and enjoying it: Hogg

“I just want to play. I don’t care where and who wants me, as long as I’m delivering and enjoying it. I want to crack the 50 mark,” Hogg told the Cricket Australia website. “If the body holds up, the body holds up. If it doesn’t, it doesn’t. If batsmen get on top of me and start belting me out of the team, so be it. I want to finish my career playing the Big Bash.”

“It’s just being able to run at 100%. I am getting old. I feel young but the left knee just said ‘hey old fella, your mind might be 21 but I’m 46. So pull your head in a bit. It doesn’t matter what the scenario is, if I can’t train and keep up with the other players, that’s a sign for me to pull out. If I’m playing, I’ve got to do the hard yards like everyone else. I don’t want that easy way out (because) I’m old.” he said
