The most awaited game of the tournament India vs Pakistan rivalry goes beyond the game. There were a lot of celebrities present at the ground waiting for the game to begin, following the rain threats that surrounded the clash. Among those present at the venue was Vijay Mallya, who had fled the country and is settled currently in the United Kingdom due to several cases of financial default piled up on him.

As recent as last month, Mallya was arrested by the Scotland Yard in London. He was later awarded bail after having been produced before the Westminster Magistrates’ Court. Mallya has been served several notices, from several agencies and banks who have been searching for him since a few years.

Following non-appearances in hearings, he was branded as an absconder, and arrest warrants were issued against him. Scotland Yard had stated in their press release that the arrest had been made on behalf of the Indian authorities.

While Mallya has given up on his Indian Premier League team Royal Challengers Bangalore, he is still the owner of the Formula 1 Team Force India. The entrepreneur was spotted at Edgbaston alongside other cricket lovers, sitting in the stands.

While India began their innings slightly on the slower side, with runs not coming easy, before Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan changed gears to become more aggressive through the middle overs. Dhawan was the first one to be dismissed following a false shot attempt against the leggie Shadab Khan.

Virat Kohli and took the innings to a good total before an onslaught from Yuvraj Singh, and Hardik Pandya ensured that India did not get out before scoring a total of 319 runs. Pakistan were bowled out 124 runs short of the target as Team India registered a comfortable win.

Mallya was spotted with Sunil Gavaskar and later in the stands, some of India’s prominent journos shared the images on Twitter
