One thing that is certain going into the match is that India will have to pull up their socks if they want to win the match against the World No.1 side in the form of South Africa. Virat Kohli is already aware of the threat posed by the oppositions, with AB de Villiers being his close friend from their time at Royal Challengers Bangalore.

Indian skipper Kohli would want the senior players to put their hands up against South Africa for a better performance after the team failed to capitalise on the good start from Shikhar Dhawan and Rohit Sharma. Cometh the hour, cometh the man Virat would be looking at the likes of Yuvraj Singh and MS Dhoni to perform big against the Proteas.

The southpaw will be playing the 299th match of his career and would want his 299th one to be successful, with skipper Kohli wanting a big performance from the player. Yuvraj has not been in the best form of his life, with some inconsistent plays in the two matches.

Inconsistency has been a worry

Against Pakistan, it was the southpaw who scored a 32-ball 53 coming at No.5 which gave India the chance to attack in the game while he scored seven against Sri Lanka in the next game. Kohli ahead of the encounter talked about Yuvraj’s big match temperament and how it will come handy for the team.

“There is no doubt about his ability. He has achieved tremendous things for India and he might like to use this occasion as extra motivation,” said Kohli on Saturday.

Kohli sees Yuvraj as an example of how to conquer the odds in life. “He is superbly skilled and a superb athlete. Personally in life, he has fought bigger battles,” Kohli said, indicating that the 2011 World Cup Man of the tournament knows the occasion to lift his game.

India would employ the same tactics with the bat going slow in the first ten overs, before exploding towards the death of the innings.

“The last 10 overs is what we are looking at. We have scored some good runs in that stage and that remains our game plan,” the skipper said.

India would want to prove their worth against South Africa in the ongoing do-or-die encounter at the Oval.
