Virat Kohli’s England tour started on a poor note
The England tour started on a poor note for Virat Kohli. The Indian skipper was dismissed for a first-ball duck in the first innings of the first Test by his nemesis and bowling legend James Anderson. Kohli poked at a delivery outside off stump, the ball took the outside edge of his blade and settled into the hands of Jos Buttler behind the stumps.
The first Test match between England and India ended in a draw, as incessant rains meant that no play was possible on Day 5. And, both teams will enter the second Test with the series locked at 0-0.
On a personal note, Kohli has not experienced a good run in Test cricket in 2021. The master batsman has played 9 innings this year in the whites and has scored just 229 runs at an underwhelming average of 25.44. Also, Kohli has been dismissed for a score of less than 30 in 6 out of the 9 innings that he has played this year as well.
Virat Kohli is the only Indian batsman to have scored a whopping 7 double centuries in Test cricket. He is currently the 6th highest run-scorer for India in Test cricket and has amassed 7547 runs in the whites at an average of 51.69. He has also scored 27 centuries and 25 half-centuries in Test match cricket.
