One of the greatest cricketers of all time, Wasim Akram in his prime was a devastating cricketer who could contribute profusely both with the bat and ball. It has been over 15 years since he last played an International game but his National side is yet to find a fast bowler who can be half as good as him.

Akram is enjoying his time as a cricket broadcaster in his second innings and currently is working as the head coach of the Maratha Arabians in the T10 League. The former Pakistani captain was highly impressed with the way the current Indian captain Virat Kohli is mustering runs and showered some praises on the 29-year-old.

Talking to PTV Sports, Akram said that Kohli reminds him of his early days in cricket as a right-handed batsman. Here, the 52-year-old was referring to the unflappable hunger and desire to do well, which according to him were the facets they shared in common. “Virat Kohli reminds me of my younger days when I used to be a right-handed batsman,” Akram said as quoted on PTV Sports.

A record-breaking outing for Virat Kohli

En route to registering an unbeaten 157 in the second ODI against the Windies at Visakhapatnam, Virat Kohli broke a plethora of records and as always, he was at the nucleus of the side’s brilliant batting display. He went on to become the 5th Indian and 13th overall to complete 10,000 runs in ODIs apart from completing 1,000 runs in 2018 in the format.

Kohli got to the 10,000 mark faster than any other cricketer, surpassing his childhood icon Sachin Tendulkar. His 37th ODI century was also his 6th against the Caribbean side, which happens to be the most by any player against them in the game.

Despite all his mind-boggling heroics with the willow, India failed to register a win as Shimron Hetmyer and Shai Hope fought their way through to earn their side a stalemate.
