Indian skipper Virat Kohli is certainly in the form of his life. He had a fantastic 2016 and has started 2017 even better. While preparing for the one-off Test against Bangladesh, the Indian skipper tried something different. Usually, a medium pacer, Virat, turned into an off-spinner for the day while bowling in the nets.

He also went past Cheteshwar Pujara’s defense and it was followed by a huge celebration. The 28-year-old looked comfortable while bowling off breaks and his action looked sorted if compared to his wrong-footed medium pacers. Kohli might even try his luck with the ball on the Hyderabad wicket.

The Indian captain even managed to spin and drift the ball. The local authorities at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad expect the pitch to start deteriorating by day 3. This means the ball could do a bit off the turf from the 3rd day of the Test.

This one-off Test can be utilized as an opportunity by the team to try new things on the field and Virat bowling off-breaks can be one of them. His personal coach Rajkumar Sharma thinks the same, he said, “He bowls slow medium generally. But he could be trying something new to add to his repertoire.”

Bangladesh played India A recently and drew the game. The lackluster tigers were below par against the A side. They took the day off as their game ended on Monday while Indian players were put through a proper net session. This game might serve as a warm-up for the Indians before the big series against the Aussies. However, it is an important match for the Bangladeshis as they will look to end their losing streak.

Bangladesh gained Test status back in 2000 when they played their first ever Test against India. Sixteen years later they play the same opposition on their home turf for the first time. It might not be a full Test series but it is a game that could bring them good fortune in the future.
