After producing some of the best and most entertaining innings on the field, Virender Sehwag now has a similar approach when he is commentating or on social media, playing his pun-liners and sarcasm with equal mastery and aggressiveness as he would do with his fours and sixes.
Even after retiring from International Cricket, he grabs the headlines every once in a while, with his wicked sense of humor and his sarcasm. After coming to the commentary field, he has revolutionized Hindi commentary and today, on the opening day of the first Test at Rajkot, he again showed off his talent, starting with a bang as Joe Root came in to bat.
After the dismissal of England captain, Alastair Cook in the 16th over, being given a few lifelines by the Indian fielders, Joe Root, one of the most celebrated batsmen of modern days, came in to bat. Root has an enviable record in Tests and fully aware of the threat he could pose to the Indian bowlers, Sehwag said that India needed to get him off cheaply.
But once Root got his eyes set, the former Delhi batsman exclaimed quite hilariously, “Is Root ki sabi liney vyast hain,” which seemed very apt for the moment, the line meaning in the literal sense that Root is unavailable for the moment.
Root went on to prove Sehwag right with his predictions, as he went on to scored 124 off 180 deliveries before being caught and bowled off the bowling of Umesh Yadav. Root put up 179 runs on the board combining with Moeen Ali, who is still playing and en route to his century. Earlier, captain Cook won the toss and elected to bat first and his batsmen have till now proved his decision to be right, going strong against the Indian bowling attack.

Though Decision Review System (DRS) is being used in this series, Alastair Cook was controversially adjudged LBW off Ravindra Jadeja’s bowling.
