The results of the general elections came out on Thursday and it was clear that Imran Khan will become the Prime Minister of Pakistan. His party Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI) emerged as the largest party despite the fact they couldn’t grab the majority of votes and will need coalition partners to form a Government. But Imran will definitely be crowned at the helm and his former teammate Wasim Akram has congratulated him for the victory by calling him his skipper once again.

Both of them were part of Pakistan team which triumphed in the World Cup in 1992 and it is no surprise that they share a special camaraderie. It was a revolutionary year in the history of Pakistan Cricket and the team is still remembered for their heroics down under where the mega event was played. Imran was the leader of the pact and he was the one who had infused the belief in the group that they can win the title if they give their best throughout the tournament.

Wasim Akram has immense respect for his captain and believes that he is still his skipper. He was delighted after Imran Khan was elected the Prime Minister of Pakistan and congratulated him with a special message which read, “Congratulating the new Prime Minister of our Country. It was all very formal but I still got to call him Skipper.#ImranKhanPrimeMinister.”

Gavaskar’s interesting prediction

Interestingly, Sunil Gavaskar had predicted in 2012 that Imran Khan could become the Prime Minister of Pakistan. It was the game between India and Bangladesh during the Asia Cup when he was commentating with Ramiz Raja and the latter mimicked Imran while narrating an incident.

But then Gavaskar had jokingly warned him saying that he shouldn’t mimic former Pakistan captain as he could be crowned at the highest position in the elections soon. His prediction turned true and the video of the same is going viral now.
