Wasim Akram brushes off reports of him seeking the role of PCB chairman

Akram added that PCB chairman is a specialized job and he was never up for it.

It is known by now that former Pakistan cricketer Ramiz Raja has taken the charge as chairman of the PCB. Raja, who has accepted the role, will be officially elected on September 12 in a high-profile meeting. In the same turn of events, former Pakistan skipper and bowling great Wasim Akram has brushed off the reports of him taking up the chair for PCB.

It was reported earlier that Akram is looking forward to taking the role before Pakistan PM Imran Khan nominated Raja. Irked by the circumstances, Akram took his official Twitter handle to clear that PCB chairman is a specialized job and he was never looking up to it. He even added that sources should get their facts correct and stop spreading any fake news.

“Please stop spreading such fake news. Get your sources right. PCB chairman’s post is a specialized job and I was never interested in it. Thank God, I am content where I am in my life,” tweeted Akram.

The Kings of swing also went on to congratulate Raja for his new role with PCB. He made his wishes stronger by adding that Raja will definitely bring a positive change in Pakistan cricket due to his vision and experience and will give it a big boost. In the end, the former ace pacer extended his support to the new PCB Chairman in his new journey.

“I am confident that Rams will bring a positive change in Pakistan cricket as he has the vision and experience to achieve that. Pakistan cricket needs a big lift and my support are with you,” he tweeted.

Akram is known as one of the greatest bowlers of all time where he used to be big trouble for batsmen back in his days. Mastering the art of reverse swing, he made even the world’s best batsmen live in terror of his sight. He holds the record of most wickets in List-A cricketer with 881 to his name. He is also the second-highest wicket-taker in the history of ODIs with 502 as his total figure.
