What a player Chris Lynn is turning out to be for the Brisbane Heats in the Big Bash League. After leading his team to a sensational win the other day against the Sydney Thunders with a match winning 48 balls 85. Yet again today Lynn smashed the Hobart Hurricanes bowlers all over the park and remained not out on 84 off 50 balls to guide his team to 3 wins from as many matches.
Chasing a stiff 174 to win in their allotted 20 overs, the Heats got off to the worst possible start losing Jimmy Pearson pretty early. Lynn joined McCullum in the middle and the duo started taking on the opposition bowlers. McCullum raced to his half-century off a mere 26 balls and was well supported by Lynn who had already started belting the Hurricanes’ bowlers from the other end. In the 7th over of the innings, he struck a monstrous blow of Shaun Tait and it sailed into the crowd.
Tait who was steaming in bowled a full pitched delivery and Lynn had a mighty swing. The ball hit the centre of the bat and sailed over the mid-on boundary and landed on the roof. It was such a gigantic blow by the big man that even the commentators went crazy. There was a huge scream from the commentary panel as the ball was in the air as it made a terrific sound from the bat. Lynn surely enjoyed it and it was evident from his reaction. Perhaps he also didn’t expect to hit that ball that far.
Following the dismissal of Brendon McCulum, Lynn took the onus on his own hands and played like a champion to steer his side over the finishing line. He struck two consecutive sixes of D’Arcy Short in the 17th over of the innings to finish of the match.
