Watch: James Faulkner takes an excellent catch in the BBL

James Faulkner, the Australian all-rounder is a part of the Melbourne Stars team in the ongoing BBL Down Under. The 5th season of the Big Bash League has got off to an exciting start and already produced some spectacular moments. The 5th match witnessed a cracking contest between Melbourne Stars and Sydney Thunder at the MCG. Faulkner made his presence felt in the contest with regards to all aspects of the game.

Faulkner pulled off a brilliant catch to send back the dangerous Andre Russell. The ball from John Hastings was banged in short outside off-stump and Russell tried to muscle it towards long-on for a maximum. Faulkner though had other ideas. He leaped off his feet and took an overhead catch by the edge of the boundary. Although he tumbled onto the ground, he managed to hang onto the ball showing great composure.

Faulkner, who got smashed for 49 off his 4 overs, was in the thick of the action during his team’s run chase. His team needed 10 off the last over as Thunder’s captain Michael Hussey entrusted the responsibility to his most experienced bowler, Jacques Kallis. Kallis conceded two runs from each of the first three deliveries, bowling short at Faulkner, and followed it up with a pair of dot balls. The all-rounder managed only two runs from the last ball as the Stars finished just 1 run short of the target, on 5 down for 177, with Faulkner on 45.
