Rahul Dravid, the wall of Indian cricket is known for his gentleman approach and came across as a serious character on the field. There were not many occasions where he was a part of pranks and didn’t quite involve himself in non-cricketing activities around the team.

With the kind of image he has, it was quite hilarious to watch him imitate his former teammate Sachin Tendulkar. In this funny video, Dravid recounts the early days of Sachin’s career.

He talks about an incident when Sachin volunteered to bowl for West Zone under the leadership of Sanjay Manjrekar. The team lacked quality spinners while playing against South Zone, and the pitch was a square turner. While Manjrekar and Ravi Shastri were worried and were discussing on whether they need to call someone, Sachin heard them over and said ‘Main dalega’ (I’ll bowl).

When asked by his seniors ‘Kya dalega?’ (What will you bowl?), he replied, ‘Kuch Bhi chahiye dalega, off-spin bhi ya leg-spin bhi’ (Whatever is required, I’ll bowl, off-spin or leg-spin). Dravid perfectly mimics Tendulkar and then praises him for his commitment to the team.

Dravid also said that “he went on to bowl 20-25 overs in that game, which shows you the accomplishments of what Sachin Tendulkar has done.”

Harsha Bhogle, who was the host of the event, was quick to enlighten Dravid’s comment saying that, “your quote on ‘main dalega’, will be on YouTube in the next hour,” said Bhogle.
