One of the cleanest strikers of the cricket ball, Yuvraj Singh again took us down the memory lane as he smashed three consecutive sixes in the ongoing inter-Zonal T20 competition for the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. With 52 required from the last 3 overs, Yuvraj who was playing for North Zone smashed three big sixes of the bowling of Aniket Choudhary in the 18th over to bring the calculation down to 34 of 15 deliveries. Despite his exceptional efforts, North Zone eventually fell 4 runs short of the target, thus giving Central Zone a nerve-wracking victory.

After international bowlers like Stuart Broad, Saeed Ajmal and Chris Jordan came against the firing line of a Yuvi onslaught, it was now the turn of Aniket Choudhary to get the feeling of hitting for consecutive sixes. The stylish left-hander flicked the first delivery over the deep midwicket region for a big six. The next two shots were almost a carbon copy of the first shot as the ball went sailing over the mid-wicket boundary for three consecutive sixes. He finally held out in the deep in the final delivery of the over as he went for another maximum.

Yuvraj made his international return in the recently concluded limited overs series against England and made his presence felt almost immediately by smashing his highest ODI score in the 2nd ODI. His 150 of 127 deliveries was instrumental in helping India win the three-match series by a 2-1 margin. He also chipped in with a well made 45 in the 3rd encounter. His 150 in the 2nd ODI made us relive all those moments which we missed for the last many years.

This was Yuvraj’s first international century since the 2011 World Cup so it was bound to be a big moment for the Punjab lad. Upon completing the century, he looked up at the heavens and pumped his chests to indicate that he wasn’t over. Even in the T20I series, he smashed Chris Jordan for 3 sixes and a four in one over which reminded everyone of Stuart Broad during the 2007 World Twenty20.
