Former Indian captain MS Dhoni and former batsman Gautam Gambhir share a good camaraderie with each other. Both have been the pillars of the Indian team for many years. India won all the three ICC trophies namely 2007 T20 World Cup, 2011 World Cup, and 2013 Champions Trophy under the leadership of Dhoni while Gambhir is hailed as the unsung hero of the 2007 T20 World Cup and 2011 World Cup for his valuable contribution with the bat.

The Delhi based-star has been the fulcrum of the Indian batting line-up in the captaincy of MS Dhoni. Gambhir has played 118 matches for India under MS scoring 4,353 runs including nine centuries. Mahi has led India in 331 matches and also has the record of winning the most number of matches for India in all the three formats of the game.

I remember us sleeping on the floor once: Gautam Gambhir

The former Indian opener has many times spoken in length on Dhoni and his captaincy tenure. In the recent episode of Star Sports’ chat show Cricket Connected, he recalled the time when he had to share a room with Dhoni during a series.

“We were roommates for more than a month and all we used to talk about was ‘hair’ because he had those long hair back then. We talked about how he would maintain his hair and all that stuff. I remember us sleeping on the floor once because we had a very small room and the first week, we discussed how to make it bigger. So we removed the beds out of the room and we both were sleeping on the floor, with the mattress on the floor, and it was a great moment,” said the 38-year-old.

During the early stage of his cricketing career, the Ranchi-born was not only famous for his impressive batting style but also for his long and golden-streaked locks. The former Indian captain gained a lot of appreciation and fame for his unique hairstyle.

“We were both young, MS Dhoni had recently started playing international cricket together. We went to Kenya together, we went for India A tour to Zimbabwe together and spent a lot of time together. But when you share a room for a month and a half with someone, you get to know a lot about that person,” Gambhir added.
