In 2018, Virat Kohli and Co. went on a tour to Australia and they managed to enter the record books. They became the first-ever Indian side to beat Kangaroos in their own backyard in a Test series. Now, Team India will travel to the same country once again in the latter part of the ongoing year. And, Pat Cummins, the number one Test bowler has come out signalling a warning for them and said that they will be ready beforehand for the Men in Blue.

It is known that whenever Australia and India come face to face, the competition level touches its peak. The same happened in 2018 when Virat Kohli-led side locked horns with Tim Paine and Co. in a four-match Test series. However, this time, the visitors managed to go past Australia’s dominance in the longer format and defeated them in their own backyard for the first time in history.

Earlier, none of the Indian sides could accomplish the task of winning a Test series. But, Virat Kohli led-side in 2018-19 tour managed to do so. The visitors got off to a great start and marked a significant victory in Adelaide on the back of Pujara’s determined knocks (123 & 71). In the second game, Nathan Lyon’s 8 wicket haul overshadowed Kohli’s brilliant effort with the bat (17 & 123) and hosts made a good comeback by winning in Perth.

Afterwards, in the third game, Jasprit Bumrah emerged as the new architect in India’s second win of the series. He troubled Aussie batsmen and finished the contest with a 9 wicket-haul in Adelaide. In the final game, Team India just needed a draw in order to pen down their name in the record books. Interestingly they managed to do so in Melbourne

Pat Cummins feels the current Australian side is much experienced than before

Talking about the same, Pat Cummins said that he learnt a lot from about Test cricket from that series. As per him, the key to winning games in the longer format is to take wickets. Otherwise, the opponent batsmen will keep on batting for as long as possible. He added that Indian batsman managed to do so on several occasions. He cited the fact that Virat Kohli-led side showed them what level they will go to be the best in the world.

“There were a few lessons; the first lesson I learnt was how brutal Test cricket is. They might bat all of day one and there’s nothing that’ll stop them batting all of day two unless we take wickets, which they did a few times. They showed us what you have to be, what level you have to be at, to be the best team in the world,” Cummins told cricket.com.au.

The number one Test bowler recited that this time they will be fully prepared to take on Team India. According to him, this time the Australian side is much more experience than before. Also, now they have the services of Steve Smith and David Warner. Moreover, Marnus Labuschagne’s inclusion is another added advantage for the team.

“I think we’ll be ready for them this time. Everyone’s a little more experienced this time because obviously we’ve got a couple of class batters back in the side (Steve Smith and David Warner) and someone like Marnus (Labuschagne) has played a bit more and done brilliantly,” he added.
