Indian pacers dominated the 3rd day to put their side in a comfortable position to bag an innings win. Mohammed Shami and Umesh Yadav picked up 4 wickets each as West Indies were bowled out for 243 despite Kraigg Brathwaite and Shane Dowrich’s heroics. India enforced follow-on after taking a 323-run lead. Ishant Sharma picked his first wicket of trapping Brathwaite cheaply in the second inning as the hosts finished day 3 at 21/1 still trailing by 301 runs in the 2nd innings. Here we look at all the stats recorded during Day 2 play.
0 – Runs scored by Carlos Brathwaite in West Indies’ first innings. He didn’t find any success with the ball either after bowling 25 overs in India’s first innings.
1 – Shami and Umesh picking up 4-wicket hauls in the first instance for India where two of their fastest bowlers picked 4-wicket hauls in same Test innings in West Indies. Overall, this is the 14th such instance for India.
1 – Darren Bravo is now the only West Indian player to score 3000 runs among the players who have made their debuts in Test cricket after 2001.

1 – Wriddhiman Saha became the first Indian keeper to make 5 dismissals in a Test innings on West Indian soil.
3 – Number of times India maintained a 200+ first innings lead whenever they batted first under Virat Kohli. On two occasions, India enforced follow on.
4 – Wriddhiman Saha is now only the 4th wicketkeeper in the Test cricket history to dismiss the top 5 batsmen in a Test innings. Other keepers were, England’s Jack Russell vs Australia in 1990, New Zealand’s BJ Watling and Australia’s Brad Haddin vs India in 2014.
6 – Number of dismissals made by Wriddhiman Saha in West Indies’ first innings behind the stumps. Among Indians, only S Kirmani in 1976 and MS Dhoni in 2009 managed to effect 6 dismissals in a Test innings. Both those instances were against New Zealand.

6 – This is the 6th instance of India enforcing a follow-on outside Asia. Last time was also vs West Indies in 2006 at St. Lucia. Out of the 6 instances where India enforced a follow-on outside Asia, 3 of them were in West Indies.
6 – Number of innings at home when the West Indies opener failed to score a fifty plus in Test cricket before Kraigg Brathwaite’s 74. The last instance was also by Kraigg Brathwaite against England in 2015 where he scored 116.
13 – Matches taken by Mohammed Shami for completing 50 Test wickets. He is now the joint fastest Indian pacer to the mark. Venkatesh Prasad took 13 games as well.
19 – Number of consecutive Test innings where Ravi Ashwin has picked up a wicket after bowling at least 10 overs before the first innings at Antigua. Last time he went wicketless in an inning after bowling 10 or more overs was vs England at Manchester in August 2014. During this period, he bowled less than 10 overs twice and turned out to be wicketless on both occasions.
2006 – Last time West Indies were enforced to follow-on was in 2006 at St. Lucia also against India.
