Cricket is not always the gentleman’s game and often there are moments that make cricketers lose their cool even against their own teammates and friends. Although it is just a game at the end of the day, the intense battle and to come out on top against an opposition team always bring a lot of emotion and angry moments.

One such incident happened in 2013 between India and West Indies match during a tri-nation tournament involving Sri Lanka too. The incident occurred between Ravindra Jadeja and Suresh Raina.  The duo shares the best bond on and off the field while they were playing for India, or for Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the Indian Premier League (IPL).

During this particular match, India’s regular skipper MS Dhoni was out due to a hamstring injury and the onus of leadership fell on Virat Kohli. While the now 32-year-old got his captaincy career start on an auspicious note, it was the heated argument between Jadeja and Raina was what the match was best remembered for. During the West Indies run-chase, Raina, who is otherwise considered one of India’s best fielders, dropped a catch off Jadeja, which didn’t go well with the allrounder.

The allrounder is also widely regarded as the best when it comes to fielding and has set high standards. Thus, he expects the same from the other members. This time though it was not to be as Raina dropped the catch and had to face frustration from Jadeja, who was seen pretty angry. But things changed a bit after the drinks break, as Raina was seen putting an arm over and seen pacifying his CSK teammate.

Ravindra Jadeja in the squad for the England Test series

Jadeja who had a mediocre outing in the World Test Championship (WTC) against New Zealand, will be keen to get back into the form against England during the five-match series as the pitches during the later part of the series might assist spinners and the allrounder will look to make full use of this opportunity by picking up timely wickets and scoring runs lower down the order.

Apart from that, his brilliant catching and saving runs in the field too will help India in close and low-scoring encounters.
