Ishan Kishan couldn’t make his bat talk in the ongoing second T20I against West Indies and fans aren’t happy. The southpaw, who scored a 42-ball 35 in the opening game, endured a hard time in the second clash. He opened the innings alongside skipper Rohit Sharma after West Indies elected to bowl first at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata.
The track had some assistance from fast bowlers and Kishan’s reliance was up for a test. Many deliveries went past his bat’s outside edge as the ball was moving off the deck. In order to break the shackles, Kishan tried to take left-arm pacer Sheldon Cottrell on and lost his wicket in the process. It was the last ball of the second over and Cottrell went for a length delivery, aimed at the leg stump.
Ishan Kishan not making most of the chances
With the field restrictions being on, Kishan tried to flick the ball but only managed to get an edge. The ball lobed up in the air and Kyle Mayers took an easy tack at backward point. This way Kishan departed after scoring just two off 10 deliveries. Netizens weren’t amused with the same as they schooled Kishan on social media.
Notably, Kishan has been preferred ahead of the likes of Shikhar Dhawan, Prithvi Shaw and Ruturaj Gaikwad to open in KL Rahul’s absence. Hence, the youngster had the onus of making full use of the opportunity. While he did score 35 runs in the previous contest, many questioned his intent as his strike rate was below 85.
As he got out for two in the ongoing clash, fans criticized him even further. It must be noted that Kishan was the most-expensive player at the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 mega auction, having bagged a whooping INR 15.25 crore from Mumbai Indians. The T20 World Cup is also scheduled to take place later this year in Australia. Hence, Kishan can’t afford to endure a lean patch.
Meanwhile, let’s look at how Twitterati reacted to Ishan Kishan’s failure:
India under early pressure, losing Ishan Kishan. Inevitably, all eyes on Kohli.

Still Rohit Sharma will say in press conference that "we want to give enough game time to Ishan".
As he belongs to Mumbai Indians, and Mi has invested a Heavy amount in him.

Ishan kishan with Rohit Sharma is big no. Rohit looks to attack in pp and on the other hand ishan keeps on playing dots and keeps Rohit away from strike. #IndvsWI
