When a cricketer performs well, sides in the T20 leagues around the world keep an eye on the player to sign him for their side. But what would you say If two cricketing nations eye for a player to get him on their side? One would feel that the player has to be a special talent.

Well, Jofra Archer is a special talent which was evident when the Barbados-born all-rounder made his debut for Rajasthan Royals against Mumbai Indians. The fast and fiery yorkers were on for the display. Figures of 3 for 22 in his 4 overs in a T20 is a brilliant performance. The icing on the cake was the man of the match award which 22-year-old Archer received on debut.

Dream to play for England: Archer

With his sparkling performances, the bowler who plays county cricket for Sussex says that he will play for England only. Archer dreams to play for England. He still needs to complete his 7-year-residency norms to be eligible to play for the English side, the bowler doesn’t mind to wait an additional four years.

However, former Barbados player Roddy Estwick feels that the Carribean side should not give hope. “You can’t just give up. Until you see Jofra (Archer) walk out for England, West Indies need to keep trying, prodding and persuading with the hope that one day he’ll turn the corner,” says Estwick.

Estwick has seen the bowler from his early days when he used to be a spinner. Archer gave up spin for fast bowling when he graduated to the Barbados under-19 set-up where the duo of Estwick and Archer partnered well and even now they share a good bond. Estwick is hopeful that Archer will return home.

Archer has been critical of West Indies cricket which his mentor doesn’t agree to. According to Estwick, the 4-year wait is a long one. With World Cup approaching, Archer might opt to play for West Indies.
