Bangladesh is to face their worst embarrassment ever in Test cricket. In the First Test against West Indies, Bangladesh team’s batting has come to an all-time low. After being bowled out for just 43 in first innings, they have conceded a huge lead to the hosts.

Furthermore, the Bangladeshi are staring at a huge innings defeat in this game. It is almost inevitable that this game will now end on the third day itself. Currently, Bangladesh’s score is 62/6 and also trail by over 300 runs. At the close of play on day-2, West Indies clearly have the upper hand and are obviously going to the kill.

West Indies take a huge first innings lead

Continuing with an overnight score of 201/2, West Indies batsmen went on to dominate and put up a huge total on the board. K Brathwaite who continued batting with an overnight score of 88 went on to score a century. He made 121 runs before he was dismissed by Shakib Al Hasan. Nightwatchman Devendra Bishoo also made a handy contribution of 19 runs to the total.

However, it was Shai Hope yet again who gave the innings the much-needed impetus. With a 67 from his willow and along with Jason Holder and Kemar Roach who scored 33 each, West Indies managed to put 406 runs on the board with a lead of 363 runs. Abu Jayed and Mehidy Hasan picked 3 wickets each.

Bangladesh staring at the worst nightmare

Bangladesh was to put up a huge fight if they were to get anywhere close to the West Indies total. However, that wasn’t to be the case as their dismal performance with the bat continued. At the close of play of day-2, Bangladesh was brought down to 62/6 and trail West Indies’ total by 301 runs. It is almost inevitable from here that the Bangladesh team loses this game by an innings and a huge margin.

Thus far, 15 runs from Mahmudullah is the highest score in the innings. All the Bangladeshi batsmen were dismissed for very low scores as it was Shannon Gabriel’s turn this time to create the havoc. Shannon Gabriel, although expensive, picked 4 wickets in the innings while Kemar Roach picked 2 wickets.
