England handed Windies their first T20I defeat at the Warner Park in St Kitts as they thumped down the hosts by a record 137-run margin. England were four down for 32 into the 6th over of their innings. However, Sam Billings with a 47-ball 87 and Joe Root’s 40-ball 57 helped the English team to finish strongly on 182/6. Chris Jordan bagged four wickets in the two overs he bowled to run through the Windies batsmen. England bowlers kept picking wickets to bundle out the home team to just 45 runs and seal the T20I series.

Here are all the major stats and numbers recorded during England’s record win over Windies:

A record low and huge defeat for the Windies:

45 – The total of 45 by Windies is the 2nd lowest total in T20I history. Netherlands collapsed for only 39 against Sri Lanka during the 2014 WT20. Windies’ 45/10 is also the lowest T20I total by any Test playing nation.

71 – They could only last 71 deliveries; the 2nd shortest all-out innings in T20I cricket. Netherlands lost their ten wickets in 10.3 overs when they were bundled out for 39/10 during the WT20 2014 game.

137 – The margin of 137 runs is the 4th biggest defeat for any team in the T20I format in terms of runs. Windies suffered a 143-run defeat during the Karachi T20I against Pakistan last year. England’s previous biggest T20I win in terms of runs is by 116 runs against Afghanistan in the 2012 WT20.

A record knock from Billings:

87 – The 87-run knock by Sam Billings is the highest individual T20I score while batting at No.6. He thus surpassed Cameron White’s unbeaten 85 against Sri Lanka during the 2010 WT20. Billings’ knock is the 2nd highest T20I score by any player while batting at No.6 or lower position. Mohammad Nabi scored 89 in the 2017 Noida T20I against Ireland while batting at No.7.

Jordan set England record:

4/6 – Chris Jordan bagged a 4-wicket haul in two overs conceding six runs; the best bowling figures in T20I cricket for England. He bettered Ravi Bopara’s 4/10 which came during the Oval T20I in 2011 also against Windies.

Windies fail to surpass Billings and Root:

1 – Windies’ total of 45 is lower than that of individual scores of Sam Billings (87) and Joe Root (55) in this game. This is the first ever instance in T20I history where two players outscored the opposition’s total in the same game. Only on five instances in the past, a player outscored opposition’s total in a T20I.

10 – Carlos Brathwaite and Shimron Hetmyer top-scored for the Windies with ten runs apiece. This is the least “highest individual score” in a completed T20I inning. Steve Tikolo was Kenya’s top-scorer with 13 out of his team’s total of 67 against Ireland during the 2008 Belfast T20I.
