24th April is nothing short of a day of national celebration for the people in India. It is the day the ‘God’ of Indian Cricket, Sachin Tendulkar was born in 1973 in Mumbai. In a career spanning over two decades, Tendulkar made and broke records at his will, making the entire world gape in awe as he scored ton after ton, one exquisite cover drive at a time.

Tendulkar’s exploits on the Cricket field need no introduction. The only man on the face of the planet with a hundred hundreds in the game, the first man in the history of Cricket to score a double ton in One-Day Internationals (ODIs) and the list could go on and on. The superstar cricketers fans and peers took to various social media platforms to shower love and adulation on his 45th birthday on Tuesday.

Wishes pour in for Sachin Tendulkar

A 16-year-old Tendulkar made his debut into the foray of international Cricket back in 1989 and from thereon, the world saw the gradual progress of a genius towards greatness. The number of great knocks that he’s played in his life is so many and unparalleled in nature, that almost every one of his fans has different innings of his pegged as his/her favourite.

From his blazing match-winning innings in the middle of a desert storm at the Sharjah to his hundredth hundred against Bangladesh at Mirpur, the man has given us hundreds of cricketing moments to cherish.

On his 45th birthday, thousands of wishes poured in for Tendulkar. His contemporaries including the likes of Virender Sehwag and Sourav Ganguly took to Twitter to wish the maestro, while other sporting greats like Saina Nehwal and Abhinav Bindra wished Tendulkar with heartfelt messages and heartwarming pictures. Tendulkar is currently acting as the mentor of the Mumbai Indians (MI) side in the Indian Premier League (IPL).

In his career, Tendulkar created history by being the only man to reach the milestone of a hundred centuries. He has a staggering tally of 15921 runs in 200 Test matches, along with 18426 runs in ODIs for India. He’s also one of the few Indian players to have 100+ wickets in Test Cricket and 10,000+ runs in the format simultaneously. Tendulkar retired from international Cricket back in 2013.
