The Indian team will start another gruelling overseas tour of the season in Australia, as the contest gets underway on December 6. The performances of the hosts despite their rich history and fabulous record at home has deteriorated. It has widely been attributed to the fact that they are suddenly playing without two key men Steve Smith and David Warner. Harbhajan Singh agrees that the Australian team isn’t the same anymore.
He wants the batsmen to take up the responsibility this time, the bowlers had performantly consistently on the last couple of overseas tours. The series defeat in South Africa and England was majorly due to the inability of the batsmen to come out in testing conditions.
“If we bat well there, we have got the bowling to get them out. Without Smith and Warner, this is our best chance to win a series there,” Harbhajan was quoted as saying by IANS.
Kuldeep the no.1 spinner
Kuldeep Yadav after a fabulous start to his limited-overs cricket hasn’t found the going easy in Test cricket. He has struggled to bowl tight with consistency and more often than not bowled a loose ball to release the pressure. However, Bhajji backs him to do well after how well he bowled on the day 1 wicket. He thinks the chinaman can well become the lead spinner for India in the future.
“Kuldeep has shown glimpses of what he can do on a first-day wicket. He is slower in the air and gets the ball to turn both ways. Going forward, he should be India’s key and deciding factor. He will be the No.1 spinner in future,” Harbhajan said.
The veteran also defended Kuldeep for his failure in the Lord’s Test. He said that the conditions were really difficult for a wrist spinner to be effective and we’ve got to give him at least that much.
“In England, the conditions were seaming and the day he bowled, it was the coldest day in summer. So, for a wrist spinner, it is very difficult. He could not do the things he wanted. He has time and again proved his credentials and the team depends a lot on him and will in the future,” he added.
