Worcestershire won the T20 Blast trophy this year and among many of their players, the 20-year-old pace bowler Pat Brown stood out. He returned with the figures of 4/21 and 0/15 in semi-final and final on the finals’ day to lead his team to the sensational victory. Moreover, no batsman was able to pick his variations which makes him the hot pick for the next year’s Indian Premier League (IPL).

It is very much possible that the franchises might bid a huge amount for him in the auction next year after his performances this season. Brown bowled superbly throughout the tournament and ended up with 31 wickets, the tally which has been bettered only once before by Alfonso Thomas (33 wickets) in 2010. He has been nominated for PCA Young Player of the Year and Brown is quite excited for the same.

However, the youngster has smartly kept himself away from the talks of a possible IPL deal in 2019 and wants to concentrate on his studies. The Business Management student wants to complete his studies and has decided to make away with the game for the rest of 2018.

I have tried to distance myself

“I have tried to distance myself from [talk of IPL deals etc]. I am finishing uni this year and so I have taken myself away from cricket and will then get ready to go again and crack on after Christmas. If there is an opportunity to go away to the IPL, to Bangladesh, to the Pakistan Super League and it fits in with my uni then I’ll definitely do it but before Christmas, I’ll be preparing for life after cricket,” Pat Brown said while speaking to Sky Sports.

Meanwhile, Nasser Hussain, the former England cricketer, has showered praises on the cricketer and felt that such a brilliant show in T20 format will change his life forever as the franchises across the world will be looking to secure his services soon now.
