The 12th edition of the ICC World Cup has begun in England and Wales with the tournament opener seeing hosts England defeating South Africa by 104 runs. The excitement of the World Cup was already over the limits as the opening ceremony of the tournament was filled with celebrities and former cricketers.

Indian actress Saiyami Kher is a self-confessed cricket aficionado and even her Twitter bio mentions her love for Sachin Tendulkar. The actress who made her Bollywood debut with Mirziya has also shown intend to travel to England to witness at least one match possibly that of India. Her love for sport stems from the fact that she played badminton at the national level, and cricket in school and college.

Saiyami Kher looking forward to some top-quality cricket

Obviously, Saiyami has been cheering for India and this time too, she is excited about the fact that the team has been bolstered by a very good bowling lineup, in addition to always amazing batting lineup. “As a fan, I am so excited. I don’t think India has ever had such a strong bowling line up. (Jasprit) Bumrah is in top form, and in seaming conditions, he will have a go. India has always had solid batting line-up, now the bowling is also being talked about,” Saiyami was quoted as saying by Sportstar.

The Indian team is in very good form and the majority of its players are coming off a good IPL 2019. They might have lost their last international series before the ICC event to Australia, but in the past one and a half years, they have beaten South Africa, Australia, and New Zealand away from home and had even won the T20I series in England in 2018.

The first match of the tournament saw England batsmen scoring four half-centuries in the same innings for the first time in an ODI, with Ben Stokes top scoring with 89 runs. He then also picked up two wickets and held two catches and was named the Man of the Match. For South Africa, Quinton de Kock and Rassie van der Dussen made fifties each, but Jofra Archer’s initial burst was too much as he picked three wickets and hit Amla on his head with a 144 kmph bouncer.
