England shocking failed to chase 233 runs against Sri Lanka which has left the World Cup wide open. They next face Australia on Tuesday which is the first of the three tough matches in the group stage. They are currently at the fourth place with eight points and will have to win two matches to book their spot in the top four. With the Mitchell Starc threat likely to disturb their plans, the team has roped in Arjun Tendulkar to bowl at the batsmen in the nets at the Lord’s.

Being Sachin Tendulkar’s son, Arjun is always in the limelight in whatever he does and is currently in England itself. He is playing for the MCC young cricketers at the moment and was in the news recently for bowling a brilliant delivery to castle the batsman against the Surrey’s second XI.

Arjun Tendulkar might have been readily available which is the reason, he was seen bowling to the England batsmen at the nets on Monday. In a video released by ESPNCricinfo, Arjun was seen bowling to Joe Root and the batsman missed the drive on a couple of occasions as well. England are most probably preparing to face Starc it seems as the left-arm seamer tends to trouble the right-handers more with his angle.

Here’s the video:

Litmus test for England

Meanwhile, England who were the top favourites to win the ongoing World Cup have found themselves in trouble after losing to Sri Lanka. Their semi-final spot is far from confirmed and the matches against the top three teams in the points table won’t be easy by any means. Moreover, they haven’t beaten India, New Zealand or Australia in the World Cups since 1992.

The Eoin Morgan-led side would love to get relieved a bit by winning against Australia itself. However, it won’t be easy by any stretch of the imagination with the Aussies playing some top level cricket at the moment.
