Arjun Tendulkar cleans up a batsman with a peach of delivery playing for MCC youth team

Arjun Tendulkar has been making the right kind of noise in the game of cricket and is striving hard to make his own name as a left-arm fast bowler to come out of the shadow of his illustrious father Sachin Tendulkar. Arjun has always been under the spotlight from the day he was born and it was just a matter of time he picked up cricket, which was like a duckling taking to water.

Jr Tendulkar has made a good impact playing U19 cricket for Mumbai and even featured in unofficial Youth U19 Tests for India against Sri Lanka. He recently featured in a T20 league, the latest edition of T20 Mumbai League in 2019, where the youngster was picked for INR 5 lakhs by Aakash Tigers MWS, five times his base price.

At the moment, Tendulkar junior is in England playing for MCC Young Cricketers’ team and it was in the game against Surrey county 2nd XI in the Second XI Championship that he produced a beauty worth recognition. Surrey won the toss and chose to bat first and didn’t actually have a good start as Arjun made his mark easily in the second over, he bowled of the day.

Arjun found the right line and length on his first delivery and brought the ball into the batsmen, Nathan Tilley. The left-arm swing bowler was coming over the wicket and getting the ball to move back in which is a really difficult challenge to handle since the angle takes it away naturally. It had enough purchase to deceive the batsman and Arjun castled him as the ball missed his bat and hit the top of his off and middle stump.

Speaking of Tendulkar, the young lad has made giant strides ever since his maiden U19 call up last year, as he impressed mightily in the Vinoo Mankad Trophy. He helped Mumbai beat Gujrat by 9 wickets by picking 5/30. Earlier, he had taken 3/14 runs in just seven overs in Mumbai’s 10-wicket win over Assam. In the 2017-18 Cooch Behar Trophy, he had picked up 19 wickets in five matches, including two five-wicket hauls for Mumbai Under-19.

He also made it into the Mumbai U23 team and in 2017 played for MCC team against Namibia U19 in England and picked four wickets in the first game, where MCC bowled out Namibia for just 49 runs.
