The 36th match of the Indian Premier League 2020 between KXIP and MI will be called as the most thrilling match in the history of IPL. KXIP could win the match in the second Super Over of the contest after putting in every inch of effort. Even one Super Over wasn’t enough to bring the results for two high spirited teams. Mayank Agarwal and Chris Gayle walked up the field for the second time to gift their team a classy victory.
After Mumbai Indians gave the target of 12 runs in the second Super Over, Universe Boss gave his team a perfect start. He hit the first ball for a maximum and stunned Trent Boult, whereas Mayank finished things in style by hitting two straight boundaries. In a funny sequence of interactions, Gayle has revealed why he was angry and upset at the same time ahead of the Super Over.
“I wasn’t nervous, I was a bit more angry and upset to see ourselves get to this position. Like I said, it’s a game of cricket, and these things happen. When we were going to bat, I was upset with you for asking who was going to face the first ball. I was like ‘Mayank, you asking that question?’. It’s the boss who has to face the first ball,” Gayle told Mayank.
For me, Shami is the Man of the Match: Gayle
Talking further, Gayle stated that Mohammed Shami remains his man of the match as he defended six runs against Quinton de Kock and Rohit Sharma. Shami came up with perfect yorkers to save the match for his team, and it went into second Super Over. During the main match, he picked two wickets.
“For me, Shami is the Man of the Match. To defend six runs against Rohit and Quinny (de Kock), that’s fantastic, that’s a great job. I have faced him in the nets quite often, I know he can nail those yorkers. Trust me, you nail them well, today, you came and delivered. You gave us a second chance,” the Caribbean added.
