RCB marked an end to their IPL 2020 journey after SRH dominated them in the eliminator to keep sailing forward. Various cricket experts are getting vocal about their opinions on what steps RCB should take to level them up. Next in line is former pacer and commentator Ashish Nehra, who feels that making frequent changes in the squad every year has led to RCB’s downfall. It is because of this act that they have been performing inconsistently over the years.

Nehra and Irfan Pathan spoke about the same issue, and the former pointed out that RCB seems to be over-dependent on Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers. The same thing has been pointed out by many cricket experts and recently Brian Lara also emphasized it. Nehra believes that it is the problem with Kings XI Punjab also that they revolve around a handful of players.

“RCB are overly dependent on Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers. The entire team and the squad revolve around them, which is not the right thinking as it is a game of 11 players,” said Nehra while speaking on Star Sports.

RCB should stick to the same players for at least three years: Ashish Nehra

Nehra believes that 2-3 players from RCB should be retained every year apart from Kohli, De Villiers, and Yuzvendra Chahal. Only then the consistency factor will come into play.

“You should let the same players be with you for 2-3 years other than those two. These two players and Chahal are always there in RCB. Apart from them, you will not see the fourth name.”

Ashish Nehra added that RCB needs to work with their players, groom them well for some time, and then they will start seeing the results. Irfan Pathan believes that team only needs a few enforcements to give it a perfect shape.

“Otherwise, from where will you get the players. You cannot change the entire squad in every auction, that apart from two or three, you will change the rest of the 16 to 18 players. They should stick to the same players for at least three years because making a team is a process in which they are very hasty,” concluded Nehra.
