Saurashtra’s Ranji Trophy-winning captain Jaydev Unadkat is having a time of his life. After spearheading his side to a title-winning heist in the recently-concluded final against Bengal, the southpaw rang in the wedding bells on Sunday. Jaydev enjoyed a record-breaking season for Saurashtra. The left-arm bowler toiled away relentlessly and was the bedrock of their bowling-unit.
Unadkat claimed a total of 67 wickets at a barely believable average of 13.23 and broke the record for the most wickets taken by a pacer in a single season of Ranji Trophy. The southpaw, however, missed out on the chance of eclipsing the record of most wickets taken by a bowler in one season, held by Ashutosh Aman, who claimed 68 scalps in the 2018-19 edition.
Cheteshwar Pujara posts a heartfelt congratulatory tweet
Days after basking into the ultimate glory, the 28-year-old took to his social media accounts to share the pictures of his engagement, which he captioned as, “6 hours, 2 meals & 1 shared mud cake later..”
And, since then, wishes have galore for the newly-wedded couple from both fans as well as Unadkat’s compatriots. One of Jaydev’s closest friends and Saurashtra teammate Cheteshwar Pujara also took to social media to post a special message for the couple.
“Welcome to the family Rinny. I am so glad that my brother @JUnadkat has found the love of his life. P:S – You have to deal with a lot of bromance”- Pujara wrote

Earlier, the Indian international had heaped a lot of praise on his Saurashtra captain for his stonewalling performance throughout the season while also reckoning that he’ll be surprised if Jaydev doesn’t get a national call-up.
“Jaydev was modest that he would not be thinking about the Indian call but I will be surprised if he is not picked in the Indian team. Jaydev has bowled exceptionally well throughout the season. If someone takes 67 wickets in a season, I don’t think there is anyone who can perform better in the Ranji Trophy. There has to be a lot of importance to Ranji Trophy performance to get picked for the Indian team,” Pujara was quoted as saying by Hindustan Times.
