Younis Khan walked out of cricket in an emphatic fashion. Pakistan sealed a fantastic series win over West Indies in their own backyard. This was their first Test series win in the Caribbean and Younis along with outgoing skipper Misbah-ul-Haq was the focal point of the series. The 39-year-old finished his career by becoming only the 13th man in the history of cricket to go past 10000 Test runs.
He was also involved in one of the nerviest Test matches as Pakistan won it on the second last ball of the game to seal the series. There was a tribute night for this Pakistan legend at Lord’s where Younis talked about his Test career and a lot of other stuff. The main thing that stood out was his Dream Test Team. Younis picked up one of the best teams there possibly could be. Let us have a look:
The openers
It was an interesting choice for the openers as the legendary batter’s team has Pakistan legend Hanif Mohammad and the little master Sachin Tendulkar. Normally Sachin would come in at number 4 for India but Younis wants him to open the innings. Hanif, however, was an interesting choice as he was the player of the yesteryears.
The middle order
South African legend Jacques Kallis was the choice for the number three spot. The number four was given to the great Brian Lara. Sir Vivian Richards and Gary Sobers came in next with Adam Gilchrist and Imran Khan to follow.
That is one of the best middle orders you will ever see. Gilchrist was obviously his wicketkeeper and the Pakistan legend Imran Khan has to be the captain of this team of greats.
The Bowlers
The side is not short of famous bowlers either. The Sri Lankan wizard Muttiah Mularidharan being the only spinner. He has the respective legends from their countries Richard Hadlee and Glenn McGrath to complement him in the pace department. This crop of bowlers would destroy any batting lineup in the world.
Younis Khan’s all-time Test XI:
Hanif Mohammad, Sachin Tendulkar, Jacques Kallis, Brian Lara, Viv Richards, Garfield Sobers, Adam Gilchrist (wk), Imran Khan (C), Richard Hadlee, Muttiah Muralitharan, Glenn McGrath
