'You've come to the wrong shop' - Salman Butt reacts to Sarfaraz Ahmed's 'fixer' tweet

Former Pakistan captain Sarfaraz Ahmed took to Twitter on Wednesday (February 2) and made a scathing attack, seemingly towards tainted cricket Salman Butt. The latter had criticized Sarafaz’s recent outing in the ongoing Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2022. Butt also stated that Sarfaraz “needs to look after his own performance” as he has been the second-choice wicketkeeper-batter for the national team since the last couple of years.

His views didn’t go down with Sarfaraz as the Quetta Gladiators skipper called him a “fixer who sold Pakistan while being on national duty.” For the unversed, Butt, alongside Mohammad Amir and Mohammad Asif, was found guilty of spot-fixing during the Lord’s Test in 2010. The trio subsequently faced bans as their careers came to a standstill. While Amir did manage to make a national comeback in 2016, Asif and Butt couldn’t do so.

Referring to the same saga, Sarfaraz tweeted: “Pakistan ko on duty beachne wala fixer jub niyat pe bhashan dega phir to Allah he Hafiz hai (If the one who sold Pakistan on duty is giving lectures on intentions, then only god can protect) .#justsying.” Notably, Butt had slammed Sarfaraz for losing his temper during the crunch situations of Quetta Gladiators’ defeat against Multan Sultans.

You won’t get the stuff you want from this place: Salman Butt

He stated that the wicketkeeper should analyze his performances instead of bothering about others. With Sarfaraz’s tweet spreading like wildfire, several fans demanded Salman’s reaction when he went live on his YouTube channel. While Butt didn’t make any direct remarks, he dropped a subtle response, saying he doesn’t intend to ignite the matter further.  

“You’ve come to the wrong shop. You won’t get the stuff you want from this place. There already are a lot of shops here where people keep shouting like bus conductors, so you might as well go there,” Butt said.

Meanwhile, Quetta Gladiators, who finished last season at the rock-bottom of the team standings, are currently fourth in the points table with one win in three games. Skipper Sarafaz hasn’t been able to do much talking with his bat, registerings scores of 16* and 21 in two outings so far.
