The Abu Dhabi T10 League will kick-off later this month and it is expected to be a glitzy affair with the who’s who of World cricket converging in what should be a pulsating affair. And, possibly the biggest signing of the upcoming edition is the former all-rounder and the architect of two of India’s greatest days in their cricketing history (T20 World Cup 2007 & 2011 World Cup)- Yuvraj Singh. Yuvraj, in a bid to play franchise cricket around the world, had retired from the International scene back in July, bringing down the curtains on what was a great 19-year career.

The Southpaw played in the Global T20 Canada earlier this year and will now turn up for the Maratha Arabians in the Abu Dhabi T10 League. That Yuvraj is a crowd puller is not an exaggeration by any stretch of imagination and Ben Cutting, the Australian all-rounder who will turn up for the Deccan Gladiators, echoed the same emotions.

‘Yuvraj Singh has still got it’

The T20 globetrotter, Cutting, feels that the presence of Yuvraj in the T10 League will prove to be a massive fillip for the tournament that is already grappling for superstars after the Pakistan Cricket Board revoked the Non-Objection certificate of its players at the last moment.

“It’s exciting to have Yuvraj Singh. He has done wonders for the world of T20 and one day cricket. Now he is playing in the foreign circuit which not many other Indian players have done. So he is certainly going to bring some crowds through the gates,” Cutting said as quoted by India Today.

Cutting stated that the Southpaw still has in it to entertain the crowds despite his age, “We saw what he could do in Canada in that tournament (Global T20 Canada). He has still got it regardless of his age. As long as he is enjoying, people will come and watch him,” said the 32-year-old.

Due to the BCCI’s policy of not allowing Indian cricketers to participate in foreign franchise leagues, there is a paucity of Indian talent in these tournaments but Cutting feels that more players like Yuvi who are at the backend of the career would come to these leagues in the future.
