India’s ace spinner Yuzvendra Chahal suffered some challenging times in professional life before roaring back to form in IPL 2022. Chahal’s mediocre performance in the first leg of IPL 2021 snatched his place in the T20 World Cup 2021, where Rahul Chahar got the nod ahead of him. However, with changing times, the Rajasthan Royals spinner is back to stunning form while being the T20 league’s highest wicket-taker (22) so far.

It is important to note that Chahal’s wicket tally also includes a five-for and a hat-trick this season. On the other hand, Rahul Chahar has just 12 wickets under his belt so far in IPL 2022. Former legendary pacer Shaun Pollock also weighed in with his opinions as to who should be playing this year’s World T20 among the two spinners.

There is no doubt Yuzvendra Chahal has got his form back: Shaun Pollock

“There is no doubt Yuzi has got his form back. He’s really starting to look the part again. You can see that little bounce in his step. He’s got the deliveries coming out nicely. I would think he would be a firm favorite now to go to the T20 World Cup. I just like to see him back. He’s just such a nice character. Spent a bit of time with him in Mumbai. He’s so much fun. When things are going well on the field, it’s such a nice package to have him in the team environment,” said Pollock while speaking to Cricbuzz.

Chahal, who is leading the bowling attack for RR in IPL 2022, flaunted class yet again with 3 for 28 in the game against PBKS. Pollock also added that Chahal was nowhere near the form when he couldn’t make a cut for India’s squad in T20 WC. The former Protea added that the Haryana spinner was bowling flat deliveries and was devoid of his mojo and this is something that happens to every player at a point.

“In all honesty, Chahal wasn’t anywhere near the right form when it came to the last World Cup. He was out of form, he was bowling flat deliveries. He wasn’t confident to give it air. He had lost his mojo. That happens to you as individuals,” Pollock concluded.
