One of the most popular and lucrative leagues in the world is the Indian Premier League. It has spawned a slew of talented Indian cricketers who have gone on to make a name for themselves in international matches. It also boasts top-tier international players who have gained experience playing alongside and against some of the best players in the world.

From time to time, the IPL holds a player auction to bring in new players to the league. This year, the league which has already grown to 10 teams will hold a Mini Auction in which all of the teams will be able to establish a team from scratch. In the Auctions or Drafts, several players have been purchased for a high price.

Here are the 10 most expensive players in the history of IPL Auctions:

10. Ishan Kishan - 15.25 Crores (2022)

The explosive India wicketkeeper-batter was the buzz of the tinsel town back in 2022. This fact became more evident as he entered the IPL 2022 auction at a base price of Rs 2 crore. Moreover, the two new teams Gujarat Titans and Lucknow Super Giants had offered him to become part of their team instead of going through the hammer. However, Kishan had other ideas and decided to go into the auction once again.

Notably, his gamble paid off in a way more lavish manner than he had expected. Talking of the bidding proceedings, his current and former franchises as well in the form of Mumbai Indians began the bidding war. Interestingly enough, MI had released him in order to retain their Captain, Rohit Sharma. Thereafter, Punjab Kings got into the act and started their bidding.

But Kishan became a hotcake when Gujarat Titans decided to break their bank balance and entered the bidding competition at the 8 crore INR mark. Things then took a wild turn after another franchise Sunrisers Hyderabad jumped in the ship when the price bar was raised to a whopping 12 crore. In the end, MI ensured a homecoming for their boy after they went all out to avail Kishan's services for a huge 15.25 crore INR. When it comes to his T20 experience, Ishan Kishan has played 172 T20 games and has batted in 164 innings with 3 centuries and 26 half-centuries to his name and averages 28.79.
