Keadr Jadhav came be perfectly called as a ‘pocket size dynamite.’ Short in stature but can pack a hefty punch. Regarded as a nartural T20 batsmen, Kedar worked hard for his state team Maharastra before getting recognition for his talent through IPL. His performances for Maharstra also kept growing and soon he fullfilled his dream of playing for India. But, since then he has been struggling for consistency.
1.Born on:
Kedar Mahadav Jadhav was born on March 26, 1985 in Pune, Maharashtra.
2. Early cricketing career:
Kedar Jadhav has played the U-19 Maharashtra team during his younger days.
3. IPL Break:
In 2010, Jadhav got his first big break. He was in the Royal Challengers Bangalore development squad initially but was signed by Delhi Daredevils.
4. Immediate impact:
Kedar made an immediate impact after as he scored a 29-ball 50 (5 fours and 2 sixes) for Delhi Daredevils against the Royal Challengers Bangalore in his debut IPL match. This effort won him the Man of the match award.
5. IPL career:
He was signed by the new franchise Kochi Tuskers Kerala in 2011 and played only 6 matches that year. The 2013 season was unsuccessful; he was signed up by the Delhi Daredevils but couldn’t do anything significant. Next year, he was not retained by Delhi but he was bought back by the franchise for 20 million in the auction.
6. The triple centurion:
In 2012, Jadhav made his first triple ton by scoring 327, the second-highest by a Maharashtra batsman ever in the Ranji Trophy, against Uttar Pradesh at Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Pune.
7. The fruitful 2013/14 season:
Kedar plays for Maharashtra in domestic cricket. In the 2013–14 Ranji Trophy season, he scored 1223 runs including six centuries and was highest run-getter and the fourth-highest in a season in the tournament’s history. With Kedar Jadhav’s efforts Maharashtra reached the finale that season but were triumphed by Karnataka.
8. Transfer to Royal Challengers Bangalore:
Ahead of the 2016 IPL, he was traded to Royal Challengers Bangalore for an undisclosed amount.
9. India debut:
Kedar was named in Indian squad for Bangladesh tour in June 2014 but he did not get any game to play and was at the bench. Few month later, he made his debut in November 2014 against Sri Lanka in 5th match of Sri Lanka tour of India at Ranchi. He scored 20 off 24 balls before he was out stumped.
10. Most memorable performance:
He had been in and out of the team for quite some time despite strong domestic performances. Kedar finally got an extended rope in the home series against New Zealand during which he not only impressed with the bat but was a useful bowler picking thick wickets.
That earned him an automatic selection and spot in the XI for the following ODI series against England. In the very first match of the series, he walked out to join skipper Virat Kohli while the team was in a soup. The duo bailed the team out of troubles and both the batsmen made hundreds and set the team up perfectly in line for the chase. Kedar scored 120 and was the Man of the Match ahead of Virat for his knock.
11. Awards:
Kedar was awarded the Madhavrao Scindia Award for being the highest run-getter in Ranji Trophy in the 2013/14.
12. Unique feat:
He scored his maiden ODI century after 4 ODI innings. Before Jadhav, MS Dhoni and Manoj Prabhakar held the record, taking five innings each. Manish Pandey recently broke this record.
13. Personal Life:
Kedar Jadhav is married and has a daughter.
