Prithvi Shaw had one of the most promising starts to his international cricket career in 2018. He was all set to represent India in the Tests against Australia however, a last-minute injury ruled him out of the tour. He returned for Delhi Capitals and played consistently in IPL 2019 but soon he was suspended for consuming a banned substance.

The right-handed batsman returned from suspension in the second half of 2019 and piled up a mountain of runs for Mumbai. He was on the verge of returning to Team India but the luck did not favour him as he picked up a shoulder injury against Karnataka. BCCI has asked him to report to the NCA and the seriousness of the injury is unknown.

In case he does not make it to IPL 2020, here are the 3 players Delhi could sign as his replacement:

1. Kedar Devdhar

As Delhi Capitals have stacked up their overseas slots, the team management will have to hunt for an Indian talent from the unsold players’ list. One of the many unlucky domestic stars who missed out on a contract during IPL Auction 2020 was Kedar Devdhar.

The Baroda-based batsman had impressed everyone with his batting skills in the 2019-20 edition of Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. Devdhar played 10 games for Baroda where he scored 356 runs at an average of 39.55. He had a strike rate of 133.33 while he registered three fifties.

The 30-year-old has been playing consistently for his team in the domestic circuit. The right-handed batsman also has a T20 hundred to his name. Thus, Delhi Capitals could consider him as an apt replacement for Prithvi Shaw in IPL 2020.
