Another batsman who has been in the limelight ever since winning the U19 World Cup in 2018. Shubman Gill has only improved since then and was even considered to bat at the much-debated number four for India ahead of the World Cup. He already has the experience of playing in New Zealand which he did last year. Gill made his ODI debut during the five-match series.

Gill returned with the scores of 9 and 7 in the two ODIs he played and one felt that he deserved more opportunities post the World Cup. This could be the perfect chance to try him out at the top of the order where he is most comfortable. In the three matches he played (including two warm-ups) for India A recently, Shubman Gill returned with the scores of 50, 24 and 30.

On all these occasions, he batted in top three and relishes opening the innings. The lad is immensely talented and his drives have been often compared to Virat Kohli. The Indian skipper himself was in awe of Gill’s batting last year after watching him bat in the nets. To make his case strong, Shubman Gill has also scored a stunning double century in the first unofficial Test against New Zealand A.
