Virat Kohli’s consistency with the bat in International cricket seems to be unmatchable as he piled on runs in all the three formats at an average around 50. He wasn’t as devastating for his domestic teams as he is performing at the International stage.

Kohli, however, spent decent enough time playing domestic tournaments representing his home team Delhi. In this article, we look at some of the major achievements of Virat from the India domestic cricket which are not familiar ones to many people.

Here are few records from the Indian domestic cricket which are still on the name of Virat Kohli:

Even after ten years since the Deodhar Trophy of the 2009-10 season, Virat Kohli holds a unique record in the competition’s history. Virat was only 21 years and 124 days old when he led the North Zone team in this tournament. The record for being the youngest captain to feature in a Deodhar Trophy final is now on the name of Shubman Gill.

The batsman from Punjab was only 20 years and 57 days old when he led India ‘C’ team in the final of previous edition against India ‘B’. However, Shubman’s team finished as the runners-up having lost the final by a solid margin of 51 runs. This meant Virat Kohli still holds the record for being the youngest captain to win a Deodhar Trophy final.

North Zone team posted 267/9 during the 2009-10 Deodhar final whose bowlers later reduced the West Zone to 100/6. Yusuf Pathan continued his fight with a 39-ball 80 which included 9 maximums. West Zone lost their last four wickets for five runs as the North Zone won the match 49 runs.
