We don’t often associate Afghanistan with openers who give them a flying start or even hard-hitting batsmen anywhere in the order. There are a few who score quickly but none of them score as quickly as Hazratullah Zazai. The left-handed opener is slowly changing the perception.

Zazai became a star and a sensation overnight. Having scored a stunning 162 off a mere 62 deliveries, Zazai made a name for himself and also, showed that Afghanistan can also score at a rapid pace. While he may not be as successful in the 50-over format, the 21-year-old averages 52.22 in T20I cricket.

His strike-rate of 173.43 is the best for any batsman (who has faced at least 250 balls) in international cricket. In fact, in the overall T20s, he averages nearly 33 and strikes at 157.58. Hence, he may well be one of the attention-gaining Afghan cricketers in the auction.
