Nathan Astle was one of the most successful batters from New Zealand to have played the game and he represented his country in 81 Tests, 223 ODIs and four T20Is from the period of 1995 to 2007. The right-hander was a versatile batter who opened the innings in ODIs and played in the middle order in Tests in which he scored more than 11,500 runs across formats in international cricket.

Nathan was a useful medium pacer alongside scoring 27 centuries and 65 half centuries for his country in international cricket, and he picked up 154 wickets as well. Nathan’s sister Lisa also played for New Zealand but could represent her country in just one ODI in the year 1993.

She played against Denmark Women in the 1993 Women’s World Cup but did not bat or bowl in the game and did not play another game for her country again.
