When Hardik Pandya, India’s premier all-rounder got injured and was ruled out for about half a year, it was a golden chance for many youngsters to show their capabilities on the international level. Shivam Dube, a player of the RCB, got this opportunity and since then, has played a total of 12 T20 international matches for the country. However, he left a lot to be desired.

Except for a quickfire 54 off 30 deliveries against the West Indies at Thiruvananthapuram, he hasn’t shown a lot of promise with the bat. In the bowling department too, he has only got 5 wickets to show, with 3 of them coming in a single match. To dampen his already mediocre statistics, Ross Taylor and Tim Seifert hit him for 34 runs in a single over he bowled in the 5th match of the NZ-IND T20 series.

An all-rounder is what brings balance to any side. Shivam Dube hasn’t been able to provide that balance. With Ravindra Jadeja returning to his best, and Hardik Pandya recovering from his injury, the road ahead might not be clear for Dube, and it is probable that he might be left out of the squad for the T20 World Cup.
