5) Kumar Sangakkara

The cricketer from Sri Lanka is one of the most iconic players to have played the gentleman’s game. Sangakkara has led the island nation to various glories with his batting prowess. The southpaw was a class apart, as he can easily adapt to any situation, and over the years he was one of the batting mainstays of his side. He was a big match player, and his knock in the 2014 T20 World Cup proves it.
In the first IPL auction, Kumar Sangakkara was among the elite overseas players. He brought a wealth of experience, and that was the reason why he was given the mantle of leading the batting department. The Lankan legend also captained his franchises, but he had a dismal record, unlike his international tourney. Kumar played for 2 teams in his 6-year IPL career, but he was never able to stamp his authority on a single season which is quite strange for a player of his stature.
In the Indian Premier league, various batsmen have entertained their fans with awe-inspiring batting displays. For an international player, the league is a perfect platform to raise their game but some batsmen have faltered under pressure and have not tasted any sort of success.
