The Indian Premier League (IPL) began in 2008 and the IPL 2021 will be the 14th edition of the T20 league. IPL is nothing less than a festival in India and people all over the world watch the league for their entertainment. IPL is an excellent platform for the players to showcase their talent and it also is a stepping stone to making it to the national side.

The Indian Premier League always gives the fans memorable moments which keeps them intrigued for the next season as well. However, the gameplay is not the only thing that the fans anticipate, the fans also look forward to the IPL Auctions, doesn’t matter whether they are mini auctions or mega auctions. The auctions are just as exciting and challenging as the entire tournament, not just for the franchises, but for the fans as well.

The fans run their own analysis to see which player fits the best in the team they support, and in other teams as well. All in all, the preparations for the IPL are immense. Here, we will go for a rather unorthodox approach and talk about the 5 Lesser-known players who may attract bids in IPL 2021 Auction.

1. Mohammed Azharuddeen

Mohammed Azharuddeen made the headlines when he scored 137 runs off just 54 balls against Mumbai in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. The Kerala-opener helped his team chase down a mammoth total of 197 runs by 8 wickets and lit the IPL Auctions up. Azharuddeen is an explosive opener who will definitely be on the list of a lot of IPL teams.

In the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2020-21, Mohammed Azharuddeen scored 214 runs in just 5 matches. The right-handed batsman averaged over 53 in the tournament and played at a healthy strike rate of 194. When you have such stats, especially when you’ve done it less than a month before the IPL Auctions, you are definitely getting an IPL contract.

Now the question is where would he possibly fit? Explosive Indian openers such as Mohammed Azharuddeen are not exactly a rare breed, but some teams need to have the column covered. Rajasthan Royals would likely look for the youngster for his batting, as well as an outside incentive of getting the entire Kerala population to support them.
