Mayank Agarwal first burst onto the scene while opening the batting alongside Chris Gayle for Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB). He then moved through a few teams like Delhi Daredevils (now Capitals), Rising Pune Supergiant (RPS) and now, he is with the Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) from the last couple of seasons.

Agarwal has come through the ranks really well and has scored a lot of runs in domestic cricket. He has become India’s No. 1 Test opener. However, he isn’t far behind in the white-ball game either. The Karnataka opener has often threatened to score big but hasn’t produced those innings.

Agarwal averages just 24.49 in T20 cricket and it drops even further in the IPL where he averages 18.41. However, his strike-rate is pretty good. In the 2019 season, he scored 332 runs which included a couple of half-centuries. Hence, the next year may well belong to Agarwal, the IPL batsman who has promised but hasn’t delivered yet.
