A batsman’s dismissal for a score of zero in cricket is famously known as a ‘duck’. The term is a shortening of the term ‘duck’s egg’ which was used long before Test cricket began. When referring to the Prince of Wales’ (the future Edward VII) score of nought on 17th July 1866, a contemporary newspaper wrote that the Prince “retired to the royal pavilion on a duck’s egg”. The name is believed to come from the shape of the number 0 being similar to that of a duck’s egg. Here is a look the 6 instances in T20I cricket when both openers were dismissed for a duck.

The Kenyan openers failed to open their account against New Zealand in the 2007 ICC World T20 at Kingsmead in Durban on 12th September. Batting first Kenya was dismissed for a paltry 73 and in reply, the Kiwis gunned down the target in 7.4 over for the loss of one wicket.
