As BCCI announced earlier that teams will be submitting their list of retained players by November 30th ahead of IPL mega auction, it will be known to all really soon about happenings around retentions. Talking in terms of RCB, former Indian cricketer Aakash Chopra opened up on four picks that RCB should retain ahead of the mega auction. The first choice in the line was Virat Kohli, without a doubt.
Chopra added that since only four players can be retained ahead of the mega event, RCB have a problem of plenty and they are spoiled with choices to retain the second Indian. As per the former cricketer, Yuzvendra Chahal, Mohammed Siraj, Harshal Patel, and Devdutt Padikkal will give the team a headache.
“Kohli’s retention is certain. But what about the other Indians – Yuzi Chahal, Mohammed Siraj, Harshal Patel, Devdutt Padikkal – I mean there is a problem of plenty. Kohli has decided that he will not remain the captain but he will be the definite first retention,” said Chopra on his YouTube channel.
In my opinion, the third RCB retention should be Yuzi Chahal: Chopra
Moving further in the discussion, the cricket analyst added that AB de Villiers would have been RCB’s first choice overseas player. However, he isn’t here now and that might push them to retain Glenn Maxwell who is doing a fine job for the team. Chopra backed ace spinner, Yuzvendra Chahal, as the third retention of RCB.
“What about the third? In my opinion, it should be Yuzi Chahal. You will speak to him and ask him to please stay as the third retention but that’s now going to get tricky because if Yuzi is third then whether it is Harshal or Siraj, they might want to be the third and not the fourth,” Chopra added.
Moving to the final pick, Chopra was left with Padikkal, Patel, and Siraj. Chopra went to the Hyderabad pacer and added that his career graph is going up and this is why he will be his final pick for the day.
