Cricket is not the same as before as the sport has been developing into a new form and dimension as per fans’ prerequisites. The batsmen have taken their batting to the next step in intensity. Those days, batsmen do not take calculated risks by playing big shots more often than not but now, smashing sixes have become a norm and strike-rates of batsmen have become much better in contemporary cricket.

In fact, generating immense bat power against the pace of the ball is all that matters to be called a big-hitter these days. Well, it is not that easy to remain consistent while also displaying batting prowess but still there are a plethora of cricketers who have managed to keep their form intact over the years and thus proving to a real case for themselves as a viable attacking option to the team.

Though there are a majority of cricketers who hit sixes in their cricketing career, there are a special bunch of stalwarts who are known for the knack of hitting sixes out of the park with relative ease. They are so often called power-hitters. Incidents of bowlers getting tonked to all parts of the ground are countless.

Aakash Chopra picks top 6 six-hitters in modern cricket

Former Indian cricketer Aakash Chopra picked top six hitters in modern-day cricket. The cricket expert picked AB de Villiers at the sixth spot as he reckons that he can make 360 degrees batting look orthodox.

The fifth hitter in Aakash Chopra’s list is MS Dhoni. The only captain to have won all the three ICC trophies – ICC T20 World Cup 2007, ICC ODI World Cup 2011 and ICC Champions Trophy 2013 is known for his signature shot, ‘The Helicopter’ which is the most-talked-about shot even today. MS Dhoni has hit 568 sixes in his career.

Next on the fourth spot is the sixer-king Yuvraj Singh. The flamboyant left-hander always made it look so easy when it comes to hitting sixes in his heydays.

West Indies’ all-rounder Andre Russell makes the cut in Aakash Chopra’s list. Russell has been ruthless in his batting approach as he smashes sixes at will.

The second one on the list is Hitman Rohit Sharma. If there is one batsman who can time the ball better than any other cricketer in today’s world, then it is none other than Rohit Sharma.

If hitting sixes is an art, then Chris Gayle is a Picasso of it and it was no surprise after seeing his name on top of Aakash Chopra’s list. The Universe Boss is one heck of a sheer entertainer and has often sent the spectators into a frenzy with sensational six-hitting abilities. The monster has hit a staggering 860 sixes in his cricketing career – the most by any cricketer.

Aakash Chopra’s picks: 6. AB de Villiers, 5. MS Dhoni, 4. Yuvraj Singh, 3. Andre Russell, 2. Rohit Sharma, 1. Chris Gayle
