Abdul Razzaq to make a comeback in first-class cricket

Former Pakistan all-rounder Abdul Razzaq has declared his come back to first-class cricket this season as the skipper of the PTV side in Pakistan’s domestic season. Razzaq has not featured in a first-class match in the last four years. He last played in 2014 for his team, ZTBL. With his side downgrading to Grade II from I Razzaq could not continue his first-class career.

He was the bowling coach of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) franchise Quetta Gladiators in the last season. However, Razzaq hopes to feature in the next edition of the league as a player. The Pakistani all-rounder made his intentions clear and said that he isn’t expecting an international call-up at this age.

I feel completely fit

Razzaq, in the interim, has been drafted by PTV to lead their side this season and the Lahore born cricketer is hoping that his exhibitions would get him an opportunity to highlight in the following editions of the Pakistan Super League.

“I will be captaining PTV this season. I feel completely fit at the moment and my form in the Pakistan Cup, where I not only made 94 runs against Peshawar but also took a wicket as well is proof of how fit I feel at the moment,” the all-rounder said while speaking to Daily Express.

“I hope my performances in the domestic season gets me selected for the PSL next year. I already told the selectors my plans for the future at the time. We all are agreed that if my form and performances in the domestic season are up to the mark, then I would most certainly be drafted in the next PSL,” Razzaq added.

“There are so many youngsters who are in the Pakistan side and they truly deserve their spot. I have no intentions of returning to the international team and would like to leave my mark in the domestic season,” he said clearing the air on an international call-up.

The 39-year-old last played an international game way back in 2013 against South Africa. He featured in 265 ODIs, 46 Test matches and 32 T2o Internationals for Pakistan. He never made a comeback to the team after 2013 but hasn’t retired either.
