Akbar Ali to auction his U19 World Cup final jersey and gloves to raise funds amid COVID-19 outbreak

Akbar Ali, the Bangladesh Under-19 World Cup-winning captain has decided to put his jersey and gloves that he used in the mega-event out in the auction. He has taken such initiative to raise funds in the fight against Coronavirus outbreak and support the government in the global crises

Earlier, there was news that a total of 27 Bangladesh cricketers had decided to donate half of their monthly salary for such a generous cause. This information was shared by BCB operation and the national team manager Shabbir Khan with media. Now, the 18-year-old player has joined the bandwagon in his quest to raise the funds for the same.

Akbar Ali takes a great initiative in the fight against COVID-19

Akbar Ali took to his official Facebook page and said that winning the Under-19 World Cup is one of the biggest achievements of his life. The 18-year-old added that in these alarming situations, he is going to put the jersey and gloves in the auction that he used in the final against India in the showpiece event. As per him, the funds that will be raised from the same will be used in the fight against Coronavirus pandemic.

“Undoubtedly winning under the World Cup is the greatest achievement in my life. In this coronavirus pandemic time, I am auctioning two of my used items from that final (final winning jersey and the batting gloves). The money that I will get by auctioning this item will be used to fight against coronavirus pandemic,’’ Akbar stated on his Facebook page.

Akbar Ali is rated as one of the upcoming star cricketers from Bangladesh who showed his class with the bat in the Under-19 World Cup that was held in South Africa. He performed exceedingly well for his team in the marquee event.

It was all due to his fine knock of unbeaten 43 runs studded with four boundaries and one six against India that led his side to their maiden World Cup victory. Even, he was awarded Man of the Match award for his brilliant batting. The chances are quite high that he will be soon spotted donning the Tigers’ jersey at the international level.
